PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dawid Cpw (ranked 963 p4p, 49 weight class) and Big Dog (ranked 1144 p4p, 52 weight class). Big Dog told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawid Cpw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big Dog!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cpw lands a head shot.
Cpw sizes up Dog with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dog tries to clinch but Cpw moves away
and Cpw counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cpw lands with a good body shot.
Dog tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cpw was well out of range. Poor timing from Dog.
Cpw slips under a jab from Dog.
Cpw lands a nice shot that snaps Dog's head back.
Dog throws a low kick but Cpw moves out of range easily.
Cpw lands a body shot.
We've been hearing reports that Cpw has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
The fighters circling - Cpw throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dog bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dog takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Dog ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cpw moves away.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dog darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cpw scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Dog only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Cpw is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Dog was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Cpw is trying to pull guard but Dog turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Cpw wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cpw has his foot on Dog's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dog works his way back into a safe position though.
Dog controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Dog's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cpw scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Cpw is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dog. Cpw does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cpw is looking to counter the offense by Dog and move into the clinch.
Dawid Cpw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cpw just misses with a punch to the body.
Dog moves away from the strike by Cpw.

A slow jab from Cpw misses its intended target.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dawid Cpw dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dog sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Cpw doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Dog paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Cpw - great work!
