Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luis Perez Saavedra (ranked 3306 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naoyuki Tokudome (ranked 2950 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Perez Saavedra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Naoyuki Tokudome!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tokudome misses with a wild body shot.
Tokudome moves to clinch but Saavedra breaks away
and Saavedra counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Tokudome takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Saavedra stuffs the takedown attempt from Tokudome. Tokudome gets slowly back to his feet.
Saavedra pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Tokudome back to the cage. Saavedra follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Naoyuki Tokudome has been cut.

Saavedra gets tackled into the cage by Tokudome. Tokudome maintains the clinch.
Tokudome tries to land a knee to the head but Saavedra blocks with his arms.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saavedra pulls guard.
Saavedra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Tokudome wants to stand but Saavedra is controlling his posture from full guard.
Saavedra working a defensive guard but Tokudome passes into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tokudome in particular looking to stall.
Saavedra trying to control here.
Saavedra won't allow Tokudome to pass to mount.

Tokudome is working for a submission of some sort.
Saavedra is not content to let Tokudome control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tokudome might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Saavedra haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Tokudome tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Tokudome lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Tokudome works his way into side control.
The referee asks Tokudome politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tokudome prefers to stall for the moment though.

Tokudome wants to control but Saavedra is keeping him busy.
Tokudome throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Tokudome is looking to take a break and control but Saavedra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Saavedra avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Tokudome.
Saavedra regains half guard there - taking advantage of Tokudome's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Saavedra is trying to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tokudome uses his free foot to push down on Saavedra's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Saavedra.
Saavedra is desperately trying to improve his position but Tokudome has a good base and remains in mount.
Tokudome wants to get back to his feet but Saavedra is holding on tight.
Tokudome looking to control but Saavedra is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tokudome has control of Saavedra's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Saavedra regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Naoyuki Tokudome will probably get the nod.

That's time! Saavedra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Saavedra lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tokudome circles away quickly and effectively.
Tokudome closes the distance and clinches up with Saavedra, looking for a takedown. Tokudome pushes Saavedra against the cage but Saavedra circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Saavedra scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tokudome doesn't seem bothered though.
Tokudome has his takedown stuffed
enabling Saavedra to counter with a crisp jab.
Tokudome shoots and misses
and Saavedra makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Luis Perez Saavedra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Naoyuki Tokudome.
Saavedra swats away the attempt to clinch by Tokudome.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tokudome.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saavedra bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Saavedra is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tokudome is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Saavedra has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Tokudome tries to reverse the position but Saavedra maintains control.
Tokudome is controlling an arm, preventing Saavedra from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Saavedra trying to control but Tokudome is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tokudome is trying to escape the mount.
Saavedra looking to finish with strikes here!
Tokudome holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Saavedra tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Saavedra avoids the attempt from Tokudome to control.
Naoyuki Tokudome has got the better of the ground game so far.

Saavedra looking to secure an arm triangle but Tokudome defends it well.

Tokudome slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Tokudome is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Saavedra is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tokudome can do to turn this around?
Saavedra is trying to control the action in half guard but Tokudome is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like Saavedra is going to stand back up.
Saavedra wants to free his trapped foot but Tokudome is holding on for dear life with his legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Saavedra is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tokudome tries to get to full guard but Saavedra has control of the leg.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tokudome bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Saavedra's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Saavedra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tokudome misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tokudome tries to clinch up but Saavedra circles away and keeps his distance.
Tokudome tries to score a power double leg takedown but Saavedra sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tokudome somewhat.
Tokudome throws a leg kick which misses Saavedra's front leg but catches the back leg as Saavedra tries to avoid it.
Nice sprawl there from Saavedra as Tokudome shoots in.

Saavedra trying to control the position from guard on top but Tokudome is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saavedra is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Tokudome wants to get back to his feet but Saavedra is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Tokudome is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Tokudome wants to sweep but no luck.
Saavedra would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Tokudome is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Tokudome wants to get back to his feet but Saavedra passes into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tokudome is trying to maintain the position but Saavedra is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tokudome wants to clinch but Saavedra slips to the side
and Saavedra counters with a nice uppercut.
Tokudome fails with the takedown
and Tokudome takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Tokudome tries to kick Saavedra off in order to stand up. Saavedra Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Saavedra working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Saavedra knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tokudome on the ground.
Saavedra prevents Tokudome from escaping the position.

Saavedra is trying to control. Tokudome wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Saavedra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Saavedra prevents Tokudome from standing back up.
Tokudome has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Saavedra is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luis Perez Saavedra showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Saavedra has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
