Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Todd Rumper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rumper lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Rumper throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
Rumper connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rumper misses with a few strikes there.
Rumper's corner calls for a 1-2. Rumper obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Silva walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Todd Rumper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rumper waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Silva. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Silva to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Silva is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rumper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Silva is still in real trouble! Can Rumper finish him?
Rumper is working hard here to advance position.
Silva seems to have recovered his senses.
Rumper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rumper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rumper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rumper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rumper has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.
Rumper advances position into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rumper off and has taken his back!
Silva keeps control of the position as Rumper tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Rumper is doing well to defend. Silva seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Rumper is forced to tap and this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Julio Silva!
