Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Julian Day (ranked 22525 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Stone (ranked 3865 p4p, 422 weight class). Robert Stone is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julian Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Stone!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone misses with a wild body shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Stone.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Day.
Day fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Day checks a leg kick.

Day gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stone with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stone wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
Stone engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stone is controlling him.

Stone postures up in Day's guard and throws a big left but Day blocks it.
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Day has wrist control.
Stone with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Day shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julian Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Day shoots in and drives through. Stone sprawls well.
Day moves out of range of the strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Day is defended easily by Stone.
Stone was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Day definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Day gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Stone engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Stone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stone stays in close to Day's body and controls the position.
Day keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters circling - Stone throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Day shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Day moves forwards but Stone connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Day shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stone sprawls well. Stone wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Day gets slowly back to his feet.
Day avoids the head kick by Stone.
Day looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Stone misses with an attempted mid kick.
Day shoots in for a double leg but Stone sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A nice side step and Stone releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Day shoots in looking for a takedown. Stone tries to sprawl out of it but Day keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stone.
Day being controlled for a moment.
Day dodges the ground and pound from Stone.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Stone dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Stone shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Day tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Day somewhat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Day.

Stone looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Stone seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Day walks forward, straight into a front kick from Stone.

Day dives in and grabs Stone's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stone pushes down on Day's head and hops out.
Robert Stone seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Day defending well as Stone loads up on a big left hand.
Day goes for a double leg but Stone avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stone continues to drive forward.

A nice leg kick lands there from Stone.
Day shoots in and drives through. Stone sprawls well.
Day blocks a head kick by Stone.
Stone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stone motions for Day to come forward. Stone throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Day fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Stone tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stone lands with an overhand left.
Julian Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
No luck for Day with that takedown attempt.
Stone misses with a low kick.
A shot to the liver by Stone. Beautiful body shot.

Day shoots in looking for a takedown. Stone tries to sprawl out of it but Day keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stone throws a body shot but no joy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Day.
Stone connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Stone misses the shot to the body.
Stone throws a body shot but no joy.
Day tries to counter with a takedown but Stone is quick to defend against it.
Day avoids the head kick by Stone.
Day shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stone pinned against the cage. Stone gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Day closes the distance and clinches up with Stone, looking for a takedown. Day pushes Stone against the cage but Stone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Stone is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Stone scores with a nice strike.
Stone misses with an uppercut. Day saw that one coming.
Stone moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Stone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Day.
Day shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stone as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Day shoots for a takedown but Stone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A jab lands there for Stone.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Day moves away.
Stone fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Day throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stone's waist but Stone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Day off to one side.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Day.

Stone drives through with a takedown into Day's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Day working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stone.
Stone is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Robert Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Day's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Day doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stone counters with a takedown into side control.
Stone tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Stone tries for a kimura but Day is defending well.
Stone wants to control but Day is keeping him busy.
Stone in side control, throwing shots but Day defends.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone staying calm.

Stone working the head and body with strikes.
Day is not content to let Stone control the position.
Day is letting Stone control him for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Day keeps working.
A lull in the action here as Stone stalls from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Stone throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Day stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Day fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Day is not content to let Stone control the position.
Stone misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Stone misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Stone wants to control but Day is keeping him busy.
Robert Stone is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Stone controls the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Stone wants to control but Day is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Stone drives through with a takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stone trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Julian Day has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Day can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stone controls the pace.

Robert Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Robert Stone started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
