Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Roffen (ranked 7028 p4p, 594 weight class) and Jeff Godfrey (ranked 6323 p4p, 563 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roffen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Godfrey is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Godfrey avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roffen has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Godfrey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Godfrey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Roffen is just riding it out for now. Godfrey eventually gives up the hold.

It looks like Godfrey might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Godfrey is trying to control the action in half guard but Roffen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roffen is looking for a sweep. Godfrey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Godfrey in particular looking to stall.
Godfrey's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Godfrey shoots for a double leg takedown but Roffen sprawls well. He's pushed Godfrey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
