Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Padraig Pearse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Rodrigues!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearse tries to clinch but Rodrigues moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Paulo Rodrigues showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Despite the aggression on Rodrigues's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodrigues pushes Pearse off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rodrigues clobbers Pearse with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Pearse shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodrigues sprawls well. He's pushed Pearse's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rodrigues takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Padraig Pearse has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paulo Rodrigues is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rodrigues tries to break free but Pearse pushes him back against the cage.

Paulo Rodrigues comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rodrigues has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
