PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Duff (ranked 2886 p4p, 319 weight class) and Jon Snitch (ranked 3268 p4p, 0 weight class). Duff comes to the cage accompanied by Determined by Mudvayne. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brendan Duff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snitch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snitch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duff seems a little lost for a moment, as Snitch dominates the positioning.
Duff is looking for a sweep.
Duff is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Snitch is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Snitch takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Duff tries to lock up and control but Snitch gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Duff can't escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snitch controlling his opponent.
Duff working to try and regain half guard.
Duff is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duff can't escape the position.
Duff wants to hold on but Snitch pushes him away.
Snitch content just to control the position here.
Duff is looking to improve his position but Snitch isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duff can't escape the position.
Snitch takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Duff reaches up and holds on to Snitch to control the position.
Duff is squirming around, avoiding Snitch's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Snitch dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Snitch closes the distance and pushes Duff back into the cage.
Duff throws a punch but it's blocked by Snitch.
Snitch stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Duff escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Duff checks a leg kick.
Snitch bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Duff's head backwards.
Duff stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duff wants it to stay on the feet.
Snitch misses with a takedown
and Duff counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duff is trying to break free.

Duff misses with an elbow strike.
Snitch blocks an uppercut.
Snitch avoids the elbow strike from Duff, against the cage.
Snitch has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Duff makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Duff tries to land knees in the clinch but Snitch avoids the damage to the body.
Duff lands a nice uppercut.
Duff has a couple of punches blocked by Snitch.

Brendan Duff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Snitch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Snitch takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Snitch is trying to maintain a safe position but Duff gets an underhook and turns Snitch into the cage.

Duff is defending well against a takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Duff creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Snitch drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Duff.
Snitch can't get the takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snitch has Duff pressed against the cage.
Duff tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Snitch avoids it.

Duff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Duff looks to score with a jab to the body but Snitch is just out of range.
Snitch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Duff pinned against the cage. Duff gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Duff lands with a nice body punch.

Duff gets caught napping as Snitch dives in and scores a takedown. Duff manages to retain guard.
Duff is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Duff being controlled here, momentarily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Duff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Snitch is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Duff is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Snitch wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Duff is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Duff's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Snitch is staying tight to Duff's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Duff manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Snitch is taking a breather. Duff says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Duff regains full guard. Nicely done.

Snitch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Duff is trying to control the position but Snitch postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Duff stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duff wants it to stay on the feet.
Snitch moves out of range as Duff strikes.
Snitch looks like he wants to counter punch here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Duff.
Snitch connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jon Snitch seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Snitch tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Duff moves out of range as Snitch strikes.
Snitch lands with a good body shot.
Snitch dives in for a single leg takedown but Duff sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Brendan Duff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Snitch.
Snitch misses with a straight right.
Nice straight punches there by Duff. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Duff.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Snitch blocks a head kick by Duff.
Duff takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Duff lands with a kick to the ribs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jon Snitch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Snitch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
