PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Cook (ranked 580 p4p, 75 weight class) and Harry Kane (ranked 627 p4p, 80 weight class). Cook comes to the cage accompanied by Lil Baby - Southside. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harry Kane!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cook throws out the jab.
Kane is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Cook lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.
Kane lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Cook moves in looking to clinch but Kane pushes him off.
That kick from Kane tenderised Cook's leg. Cook is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kane takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Kane showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cook turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Kane clinches with his opponent.
Kane creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cook's defenses.
Kane tries a body shot but Cook blocks it.
I was talking to Cook's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Cook lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Kane looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Kane lands with a short shot to the head.
Cook tries to throw a body punch but Kane avoids it by throwing Cook back against the cage.
Cook comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Kane misses with a punch to the body.
Kane misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Kane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cook throws out a loose jab but Kane uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kane throws a shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cook on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kane. Kane obviously looking to wear him down.
Harry Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cook fails to land with a series of punches.
Cook swats away the attempt to clinch by Kane.
Kane lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kane comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kane lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kane.

It looked like Cook wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Cook stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kane.

Cook takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Kane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cook moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cook appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Cook throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Cook counters with a stiff right hand.
Kane with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kane throws the kick towards the body but Cook avoids it.

That's time! Cook's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cook takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Kane buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cook moves away.
Cook fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kane manages to avoid it.
The crowd cheers as Cook lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kane doesn't seem phased though.

Cook stuns Kane with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cook loads up on a big right hand but Kane slips the punch.
Kane looks to throw a body kick
and Cook makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kane throws a leg kick which misses Cook's front leg but catches the back leg as Cook tries to avoid it.
Cook takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kane connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Cook breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cook was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Kane connects with a single shot there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Kane connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cook needs to keep his hands up - Kane had a free shot at his head there.
Cook swings for the body but Kane moves out of range.

And Cook counters with a quick kick to the body but Kane blocks it.
Cook takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Harry Kane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Cook looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Harry Kane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Harry Kane decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
