Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lee Sang Seok (ranked 402 p4p, 45 weight class) and Pat Verbeek (ranked 875 p4p, 101 weight class). Lee Sang Seok had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verbeek misses with a left hand

and Seok counters with a takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seok working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Seok is looking to take a break and control but Verbeek is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lee Sang Seok will probably get the nod.

The crowd cheers as Seok lands an impressive looking overhand right. Verbeek doesn't seem phased though.

so Seok counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Seok not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Seok throws an elbow that misses. Verbeek uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Seok's guard. Nice move by Verbeek!

Seok is pushing down on Verbeek's leg trying to pass to half guard. Verbeek is fighting to maintain full guard but Seok has managed to sneak the leg through.
Seok slows the pace down in half guard.
Seok seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Verbeek for as long as he can get away with.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lee Sang Seok.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Seok, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
