PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Dean Rockefeller (ranked 2929 p4p, 319 weight class) and Forrest Worthington (ranked 1497 p4p, 189 weight class). Rockefeller kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kreator - Violent Revolution. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Dean Rockefeller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Forrest Worthington!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Worthington cracks the inside of Rockefeller's front leg.
A looping hook to the body misses from Worthington. Rockefeller does a little dance to reset his feet.
Worthington thuds a left hand into Rockefeller's body.
Worthington lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rockefeller at a distance.
Worthington jabs Rockefeller right on the nose. Rockefeller blinks but takes it well.
Worthington misses with a body shot.
Worthington scores with a head kick. Rockefeller tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like James Dean Rockefeller has been cut.

Worthington has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Worthington listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Worthington was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Rockefeller tries to bum rush Worthington with a series of wild strikes but Worthington uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Worthington was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Rockefeller misses with a two punch combination.
Worthington wants to counter with a clinch but Rockefeller pushes him away.
Worthington gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rockefeller.
Worthington throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Worthington moves into the clinch successfully.
Rockefeller is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rockefeller tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rockefeller takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Rockefeller looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Worthington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rockefeller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rockefeller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rockefeller would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rockefeller has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Worthington has control of Rockefeller's left arm, preventing Rockefeller from doing any damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Worthington is trying to pull guard but Rockefeller has him pressed against the cage.

Worthington drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rockefeller tries to buck Worthington off but Worthington is having none of it.

Rockefeller parries the strikes from Worthington easily there. Worthington is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rockefeller to escape.

Worthington lands a decent elbow from side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Worthington lands a high kick to the side of Rockefeller's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Worthington dives into guard, looking to finish.
