Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ana Conda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ground Day!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Conda.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Day has eaten all the pies!

Day moves into the clinch successfully.

Day gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Day looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Day tries to pass the half guard into mount. Conda knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conda landing small, sideways elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Conda can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Conda has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Day is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Conda.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Day accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ground Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Conda tries to close the distance and clinch up but Day swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Conda.
Ground Day has got the better of the ground game so far.

Day changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
An inside leg kick from Day misses.

Day tries to sprawl but Conda drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Day wants to sweep here but Conda controlling him for the moment.
Conda is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ana Conda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ground Day is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Conda is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well Day has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
