Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Beltran (ranked 3275 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Penaali (ranked 5406 p4p, 0 weight class). Penaali is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Immortal Technique - Obnoxius. Arvo Penaali has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Beltran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 25 - 2, fighting out of New York, Arvo Penaali!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beltran tries to clinch but Penaali moves out of range.
Beltran misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Beltran drives through and clinches with Penaali against the cage.

Beltran breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Penaali decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Penaali controlling the action here.
Penaali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Beltran is staying active underneath Penaali, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Penaali throwing shots but Beltran is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beltran manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Penaali keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Beltran escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Beltran fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Penaali to the ground. Beltran is now in Penaali's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penaali has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Beltran is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Penaali.

Penaali manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Penaali wants to improve his position but Beltran is controlling well.
Penaali is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penaali is refusing to be controlled, as Beltran sits in half guard.
Penaali is looking for a sweep. Beltran is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Beltran seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Penaali manages to escape and get back to his feet!

and Penaali counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

and Penaali makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Penaali shoots in for a double leg but Beltran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Penaali stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Penaali wants it to stay on the feet.

Penaali gets control of Beltran's arms and successfully pulls guard. Penaali will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Penaali throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Beltran escapes and throws Penaali's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Penaali is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Beltran gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Penaali gets control of Beltran's arms and successfully pulls guard. Penaali will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Penaali looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Beltran puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Beltran lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Beltran prevents Penaali from improving his position.
Beltran is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Penaali can do to turn this around?

Beltran stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

letting Penaali counter with a right hand.

Penaali keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Beltran. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Penaali is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

No joy there for Beltran, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It looked like Beltran was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Penaali clobbers Beltran with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Penaali goes for a double leg but Beltran avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beltran continues to drive forward.

Penaali fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beltran avoids it really well and circles away.

Penaali has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Penaali is breathing heavily.
Penaali throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Beltran stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Penaali throws the left hand but Beltran avoids the punch easily.
Beltran throws a head kick but Penaali moves out of range.

Penaali loads up on a big right hand but Beltran slips the punch.

Beltran shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penaali's guard.
Penaali wants to get back to his feet but Beltran is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Penaali has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beltran can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close second round but I would say that Carlos Beltran will probably get the nod.

Penaali is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Beltran with a body shot.

Arvo Penaali has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Beltran changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penaali looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Beltran.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beltran, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Carlos Beltran decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
