PFC 55 Alzheimer vs Jackal* PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Friedrich Alzheimer (ranked 48 p4p, 8 weight class) and Jacky Jackal (ranked 166 p4p, 25 weight class). Alzheimer comes to the ring accompanied by You're The Voice. Jackal has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 wins, 2 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacky Jackal!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alzheimer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Alzheimer slips a straight right by Jackal.
Jackal throws the left hand but Alzheimer avoids the punch easily.
Jackal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alzheimer was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackal.
Jackal throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Alzheimer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Alzheimer appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Jackal gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Alzheimer.
Alzheimer tries to score with a low kick but Jackal moves his leg out of the way.
Jackal does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Alzheimer throws a hook but Jackal avoids it easily.
Jackal throws a left and a right that both miss
and Alzheimer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jackal on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Alzheimer. Alzheimer obviously looking to wear him down.
Jackal throws a jab when Alzheimer was well out of range.
Alzheimer lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jackal closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alzheimer circles away.

Alzheimer wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jackal steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Alzheimer.
Jackal tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Jackal counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alzheimer won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alzheimer wants to improve his position but Jackal is controlling well.
Jackal looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alzheimer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Alzheimer controls Jackal momentarily but Jackal frees himself.

Alzheimer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Alzheimer throws out a loose jab but Jackal uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jackal is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Alzheimer is defending well.

Jackal wants to get back to striking at distance but Alzheimer won't allow it.
Alzheimer blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Alzheimer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Alzheimer is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jackal is keeping busy.

Jackal fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Alzheimer is out of range.
Jackal moves out of range of the strikes.
Jackal swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jackal.
Alzheimer throws a looping overhand right but Jackal ducks down to avoid it.

Alzheimer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackal to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jackal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jackal content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Alzheimer has locked up a guillotine! Alzheimer's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Jackal is holding on here and Alzheimer must be using up a lot of energy. Jackal has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Alzheimer gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
