Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oswaldo Jarvis (ranked 5744 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Batistaa (ranked 5751 p4p, 438 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oswaldo Jarvis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Batistaa!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Batistaa takes the fight into the clinch.
Jarvis really is a fat lump.
Jarvis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Batistaa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Batistaa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jarvis blocks a head kick by Batistaa.
Jarvis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Batistaa keeps the fight on the outside.
Batistaa tries for a takedown but Jarvis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jarvis doesn't manage to clinch there - Batistaa circles away.

Batistaa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jarvis gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Jarvis has his foot on Batistaa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Batistaa works his way back into a safe position though.

Jarvis throws his legs up looking for a submission but Batistaa uses it to pass to side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Batistaa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Batistaa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Batistaa is looking to take a break and control but Jarvis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Batistaa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jarvis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jarvis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Batistaa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jarvis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Batistaa to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Batistaa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jarvis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jarvis is on top in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jarvis throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Jarvis stops a takedown attempt from Batistaa.
Jarvis is trying to break the clinch but Batistaa has him pressed against the cage.
Batistaa jumps guard but Jarvis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Oswaldo Jarvis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Batistaa.

Jarvis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batistaa can do anything to dispel that myth.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Batistaa holds on and takes a little breather.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Batistaa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jarvis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Batistaa closes the distance and clinches up with Jarvis, looking for a takedown. Batistaa pushes Jarvis against the cage but Jarvis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A quick step to the side and Jarvis tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Oswaldo Jarvis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

No joy there for Jarvis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Batistaa throws a right and a left that both miss.

Jarvis tries to land a knee to the head but Batistaa blocks with his arms.

Jarvis tries to circle away but Batistaa has him pinned against the cage.
Jarvis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Batistaa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jarvis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Batistaa.
Batistaa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jarvis pinned against the cage. Jarvis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jarvis lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Jarvis is looking to clinch but Batistaa is avoiding it.
Batistaa is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Jarvis throws a sloppy head kick and Batistaa moves out of range easily.
Oswaldo Jarvis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dave Batistaa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Batistaa manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jarvis on his heels. He'll look to pass Jarvis's guard now, I'm sure.

Well Batistaa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
