PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reinaldo Roldan (ranked 5107 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Armbar (ranked 24592 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico Armbar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Reinaldo Roldan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rico Armbar!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Roldan. Those never looked like landing.
Roldan looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Nice takedown defense from Roldan. No joy for Armbar on that attempt.
Roldan tries to counter with a takedown but Armbar is quick to defend against it.

Armbar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Roldan sprawls well initially but Armbar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Armbar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roldan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roldan manages to get to full guard.
Armbar won't allow Roldan to sweep him here.

Roldan is working an open guard so Armbar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Armbar lands a big head kick that sends Roldan tumbling to the mat! Armbar takes a step backwards and waves Roldan back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Reinaldo Roldan has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A head kick misses from Armbar.
Roldan tries to clinch but Armbar moves out of range.
Armbar dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Roldan. That did some damage!
Look low, kick high! Armbar uses the oldest trick in the book to send Roldan tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Armbar is absolutely delighted - when Roldan wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
