PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Langley (ranked 8268 p4p, 230 weight class) and Raphael Antunes (ranked 5029 p4p, 173 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lanny Langley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Raphael Antunes!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langley throws a body shot but no joy.
Antunes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Langley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Langley lands in his opponent's guard.
Langley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Antunes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Langley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Langley trying to control but Antunes is working from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Antunes holds on and takes a little breather.
Langley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Antunes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Langley is controlling him.

Antunes has his foot on Langley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Langley works his way back into a safe position though.
Antunes wants to get back to his feet but Langley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Langley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Antunes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Langley defends well and Antunes ends up having to push Langley into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Langley counters with a nice low kick that buckles Antunes's knee momentarily.
Lanny Langley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Antunes.
Antunes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Langley circles away.
A quick step to the side and Langley tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Antunes dives in for a single leg takedown but Langley sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.
Horrible takedown attempt by Langley or perhaps it was just good defense by Antunes, which made it look bad.
Antunes tries to counter by closing the distance.

Langley shoots in and bounces Antunes off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Langley wants to stand but Antunes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Antunes trying to keep a closed guard but Langley is proving a slippery customer.
Antunes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Langley trying to control the position from guard on top but Antunes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Antunes can do anything to dispel that myth.
Antunes is looking to stand up but Langley isn't so interested in that idea.
Antunes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Langley wants to stand and escape but instead Antunes has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Antunes won't allow Langley to get back to his feet.
Antunes throwing strikes but missing.
Antunes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Langley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Antunes connects with a couple of short punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lanny Langley dominated that round.
That's time! Langley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Antunes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Langley tries to avoid it but Antunes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Langley to the ground. Langley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.


It looks like Lanny Langley has been cut.

Antunes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.


Langley is rocked!


Lanny Langley's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Antunes cracks Langley with a solid left hand.
Oh Langley is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


Jeez, Lanny Langley's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lanny Langley's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Raphael Antunes!
