PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renato Mccullough (ranked 25031 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Slice (ranked 5702 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Renato Mccullough!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slice shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Slice looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mccullough really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Slice is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mccullough doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Slice.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Slice in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mccullough wants to control but Slice is keeping busy.
Mccullough is trying to get back to full guard.

Slice passes into side control, despite Mccullough's attempt to control the position.

Slice has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Slice closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mccullough counters with a two punch combo.

Slice has managed to clinch.
Mccullough wants a takedown but no success here.
Mccullough fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mccullough goes for a takedown in the clinch but Slice prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Renato Mccullough. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Slice breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Slice clinches up with Mccullough and pushes him back against the cage.
Slice stalling against the cage.
Mccullough is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Slice is defending well.
Mccullough is looking for a takedown.
Mccullough tries to break the clinch but Slice is controlling the position.
Slice working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Mccullough is trying to push Slice away but Slice has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Slice breaks from the clinch.
Slice throws a head kick but Mccullough moves out of range.
Slice lands with a good body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Slice slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Slice shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Slice was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mccullough throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Slice doesn't manage to clinch there - Mccullough circles away.

Slice shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mccullough manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mccullough pushes Slice off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slice scores with a shot to the body.
Mccullough is breathing heavily.

Slice gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Slice stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mccullough scores a nice knee to the body.

Slice wants the takedown. Mccullough is fighting it off but Slice persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mccullough's guard against the cage.
Mccullough striking off his back but it's not causing Slice any problems.

Slice drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Slice jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Slice slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mccullough trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Mccullough controlling Slice's posture.
Mccullough trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Slice dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Slice misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mccullough uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Slice.

Mccullough throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slice was covering up waiting for the punch and Mccullough finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Slice is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Slice breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slice gets the takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Slice tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Slice has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kimbo Slice has got the better of the ground game so far.
Slice trying to control the action but Mccullough is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mccullough struggling a bit here.
Slice has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mccullough is trying to get back to half guard.
Slice is putting a hurting on Mccullough here, landing some big shots from side control.
Mccullough manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Slice is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mccullough's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mccullough's back!
Mccullough trying to control the action but Slice just sinks the hooks in.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Slice controlling the positon.
Mccullough tries to roll but Slice sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slice is not going to allow Mccullough to sit and survive in this position.
Mccullough is trying to stand back up.

Mccullough defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Slice's arms.
Slice slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Slice connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Mccullough to escape the position.
Will Slice go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Mccullough wants to get back to his feet.

Slice looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Mccullough taps!
