Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pather Jhonson (ranked 4537 p4p, 442 weight class) and Joe Simpson (ranked 7282 p4p, 607 weight class). Simpson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Grease Lightning kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jhonson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Simpson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jhonson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Simpson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jhonson kicks Simpson off and gets back to his feet.

and Simpson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Simpson wants to clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jhonson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Simpson defends well and Jhonson ends up having to push Simpson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pather Jhonson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simpson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jhonson on his heels. He'll look to pass Jhonson's guard now, I'm sure.
Jhonson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Simpson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jhonson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Simpson drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Jhonson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Jhonson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Simpson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jhonson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jhonson working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Jhonson is cranking Simpson's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Simpson! He's tightened the choke and Simpson is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pather Jhonson!
