PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Turner (ranked 1210 p4p, 161 weight class) and Roy Batty (ranked 497 p4p, 75 weight class). Batty has chosen I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ben Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roy Batty!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner is looking to clinch but Batty is avoiding it.
Nice shot lands for Batty.
Batty lands a jab to Turner's midsection.

Turner has managed to clinch.
Batty throws a punch but it's blocked by Turner.
Turner can't find room to land a body shot as Batty controls the action.
Batty lands a hook to the side of the head.
Batty makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Batty wants the takedown. Turner is fighting it off but Batty persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Turner's guard against the cage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Batty accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Batty in particular looking to stall.

Turner is looking for a sweep. Batty is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Batty wants to pass the guard but Turner is keeping the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Batty is looking to work some ground and pound but Turner has wrist control.

Batty throws a lazy body kick
and Turner counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Turner takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Batty is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Turner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A little jabbing left from Batty on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Batty circles away from the clinch attempt.

Batty shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Turner is trying to defend but Batty finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Turner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Batty wants to take a breather but Turner is having none of it.

Batty manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Turner manages to get himself to full guard.

Turner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Batty is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Batty seems to be looking for submissions.

Batty has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Batty looking to sit in guard and control but Turner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Turner thuds his right hand into Batty's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Turner throws the left hand but Batty avoids the punch easily.

and Batty counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Batty throws an overhand right that lands on Turner's shoulder, as Turner tries to avoid the shot.

Turner has a couple of punches blocked by Batty.
Turner has had enough of the clinch but Batty keeps him there for the moment.

Batty has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Turner regains guard immediately.

Batty lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Turner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

I would just about give that final round to Roy Batty.
