PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aedan Declan (ranked 1428 p4p, 175 weight class) and Jorge Morueco (ranked 1692 p4p, 203 weight class). Morueco has chosen The Pretender as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Declan misses with a looping right.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Morueco checks a leg kick.

Morueco throws out a counter right but Declan avoids it with no problem.
The fight stays on the outside here - Declan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Morueco let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Morueco throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Declan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Declan pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Declan scores with a jab to the jaw.
Declan cracks Morueco with an open hand slap.
Declan scores with a sloppy right hand. Morueco should have avoided that one.
Morueco bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Declan lands with a slapping head kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A slapping leg kick lands for Declan.
Declan misses with a kick to the body.
Morueco lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Aedan Declan has been cut.
Declan misses with a straight right.

Declan wants to clinch.
Declan scores with a jab. Morueco acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Morueco looking to score a takedown here. Declan is defending well but Morueco drives through and ends up in Declan's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morueco wants to pass the guard but Declan is defending well.
Declan is trying is best to control the position here.

Morueco is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Declan is just riding it out for now. Morueco eventually gives up the hold.
Morueco is looking to advance position but Declan won't allow it.
Declan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Declan is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Gangsterdamage, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Morueco wants to work for an arm triangle but Declan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Morueco drops back, looking for a kneebar! Declan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Declan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Declan!

Declan is chipping away with strikes.
Declan working the ground and pound.
Declan lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Declan wants to control but Morueco is keeping him busy.
Declan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Morueco some visible discomfort.
Morueco tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Declan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Declan swats away the attempt to clinch by Morueco.
A little feinted left hand from Declan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Declan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


Morueco is rocked!
Declan drops Morueco with a naaaaasty hook - Morueco is in real trouble here! Declan dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aedan Declan!
Aedan Declan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
