Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bo Angliese (ranked 2104 p4p, 214 weight class) and Watsz Mawe (ranked 2089 p4p, 212 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 2, fighting out of New York, Bo Angliese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Watsz Mawe!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mawe ducks under a wild hook from Angliese.
Angliese is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mawe.
Angliese throws an off balance right hand
and Mawe counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Angliese thinking.
Angliese lands a high kick!
Angliese jabs Mawe right on the nose. Mawe blinks but takes it well.
Bo Angliese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mawe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Angliese tries to avoid it but Mawe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Angliese to the ground. Angliese escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mawe throws the left hand but Angliese avoids the punch easily.
No luck for Mawe with that takedown attempt.
Angliese connects with a right hand. Mawe shakes it off.
Angliese will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mawe looks for a takedown but Angliese sprawls well.
Mawe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

A looping hook to the body misses from Angliese. Mawe does a little dance to reset his feet.

It seemed like Mawe was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mawe throws a right and a left that Angliese avoids nicely.

Mawe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Angliese throws a nice looking combination but Mawe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Angliese is staying active underneath Mawe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mawe is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Angliese sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Angliese slaps away a takedown attempt from Mawe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Angliese digs a good body shot into Mawe's ribs.
Mawe tries to clinch up but Angliese circles away and keeps his distance.
Angliese lands a jab to Mawe's midsection.

Mawe smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Mawe takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Mawe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Angliese missing with a left hand there. Mawe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mawe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Angliese is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Angliese is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mawe dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mawe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Mawe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mawe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Angliese is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mawe asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Mawe has knee on belly momentarily but Angliese bucks him off and regains half guard.
Mawe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mawe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Angliese is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mawe shoots for a takedown but Angliese saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mawe avoids the head kick by Angliese.
Mawe dives in for a single leg takedown but Angliese sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Bo Angliese has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Watsz Mawe.

Angliese lunges at Mawe with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mawe's hand.
Mawe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Angliese sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mawe somewhat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Angliese rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mawe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Watsz Mawe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mawe shoots in and bounces Angliese off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Angliese scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mawe dives in and grabs Angliese's left leg, looking for a takedown. Angliese pushes down on Mawe's head and hops out.

Mawe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Angliese quickly recovers to half guard.

Mawe shoots in for a takedown but Angliese shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Mawe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Angliese's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mawe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mawe closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Bo Angliese is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mawe darts in and clinches Angliese up against the cage.
Angliese has Mawe pressed against the cage, preventing Mawe from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mawe breaks from the clinch.
Mawe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mawe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Angliese's waist but Angliese gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mawe off to one side.
Mawe looks to land a combination but Angliese avoids it well.
Mawe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mawe cracks Angliese with a good jab.
Angliese throws a sloppy head kick and Mawe moves out of range easily.
Angliese tries a head kick but it misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mawe takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bo Angliese.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Angliese, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
