Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Gomez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rowler is defended easily by Gomez.
Rowler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gomez avoids it really well and circles away.
Gomez misses with a takedown
and Rowler counters with a straight right hand.
Rowler fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Rowler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Gomez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rowler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gomez.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gomez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Rowler tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gomez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rowler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rowler is looking to regain half guard here but Gomez keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Gomez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rowler tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Rowler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gomez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rowler stalling away here and it's allowed Gomez to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Gomez looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Rowler is defending well. Gomez quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Rowler has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Gomez celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
