Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Rudskogen (ranked 1926 p4p, 182 weight class) and Alexei Volkov (ranked 1694 p4p, 159 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Rudskogen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexei Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rudskogen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rudskogen keeps Volkov at a distance using the push kick.
Good leg kick by Rudskogen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rudskogen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Volkov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Volkov throws a shot from downtown. Rudskogen moves away and avoids it.
Jon Rudskogen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Volkov avoids a kick to the body.
A solid body kick from Rudskogen.
Rudskogen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Volkov jabs Rudskogen to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Rudskogen with a nice cross.
Volkov swats away the attempt to clinch by Rudskogen.
Rudskogen tries to land a front kick but Volkov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A punch lands to the side of Rudskogen 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Rudskogen lands a jab to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rudskogen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rudskogen there as he acknowledges the shot.
Rudskogen misses with a kick to the body
and Volkov counters with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Volkov throws an off balance right hand
and Rudskogen counters with a good, hard body kick but Volkov shrugs it off.
Rudskogen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Volkov drops Rudskogen with a big left hand! Rudskogen is injured, injured bad! Volkov jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexei Volkov!
Alexei Volkov is the new heavyweight champion!
