Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gleb Horowitz (ranked 5628 p4p, 513 weight class) and Joel Vazquez (ranked 5025 p4p, 474 weight class). Vazquez has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Joel Vazquez enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A nice leg kick lands there from Horowitz.
Horowitz feints a jab promting Vazquez to slip. Horowitz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Vazquez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Horowitz looks to land a combination. Vazquez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Vazquez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Horowitz lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Horowitz.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Horowitz tries to bum rush Vazquez with a series of wild strikes but Vazquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vazquez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Horowitz defends it well.

Vazquez misses with a takedown attempt - Horowitz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Vazquez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vazquez showed some decent athleticism there.
Vazquez throws a strike but Horowitz avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horowitz has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Vazquez has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vazquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Horowitz tries to avoid it but Vazquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Horowitz to the ground. Horowitz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Vazquez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Horowitz's guard.

Horowitz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Horowitz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Horowitz throws a series of punches but Vazquez moves out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
