Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dax Baxter (ranked 6150 p4p, 385 weight class) and James The Blaze (ranked 6137 p4p, 384 weight class). The Blaze has chosen 69 Tati as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dax Baxter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James The Blaze!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baxter wants to clinch up but The Blaze keeps it at a distance.
Baxter dives in for a single leg takedown but The Blaze sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
The Blaze unleashes a big counter combination but Baxter bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Good exchange - Baxter coming out on top.

The Blaze shoots in for a takedown but Baxter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The Blaze closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

It looks like The Blaze might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The Blaze looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Baxter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The Blaze changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baxter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The Blaze seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The Blaze might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Baxter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The Blaze escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baxter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The Blaze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baxter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Baxter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The Blaze shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Baxter as he avoids it easily.
Dax Baxter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James The Blaze.
Baxter tries to close the distance and clinch but The Blaze swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if The Blaze can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dax Baxter.
I think The Blaze has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, James The Blaze was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
