PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cyrius Python (ranked 3249 p4p, 340 weight class) and Gunnar Impala (ranked 3862 p4p, 393 weight class). Impala has chosen Ambitions of a ridah as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Cyrius Python!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gunnar Impala!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Python throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Gunnar Impala has been cut.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Python.

Python tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Python has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Python is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Impala is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Impala really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Python. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Impala is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Python asserts his dominance and retains side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Impala avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Python.

Python thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Python is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Impala knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Python tries to score a body lock takedown but Impala shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Python is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Impala is staying active underneath Python, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Python changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Impala tries to avoid it but Python manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Impala to the ground. Impala escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Python has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Python seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

I think Python has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
