PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Foreman (ranked 701 p4p, 73 weight class) and Quinton Randleman (ranked 709 p4p, 74 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Foreman !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Randleman!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randleman shoots in for a double leg but Foreman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Foreman uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Randleman.
Randleman shoots in but Foreman avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Randleman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Randleman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Randleman thows a huge punch but Foreman dodges it nicely.
Randleman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Foreman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Randleman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Foreman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Randleman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Randleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Foreman is retaining full guard.

Foreman wants to improve his position but Randleman is controlling well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Randleman in particular looking to stall.

Quinton Randleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Let's hope that Randleman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Randleman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Quinton Randleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Randleman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Randleman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foreman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Randleman somewhat.
Foreman is looking for a counter combo.

Foreman takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Randleman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
