Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elvis Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, River William!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns throws a body punch but William moves out of range.
William lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
William throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johns is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
William looks to clinch
and Johns connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

William is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Johns's half guard.
William wants to stand up but Johns is controlling the position.
Johns is pressing down on William's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Johns is looking for a triangle but William pushes his legs off easily.
William really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johns is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

William avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

William stands up from Johns's guard - William perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johns instigates a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
William pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johns misses with a body shot
and William counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Johns blocks the body kick.
William throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
William lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Johns takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

William fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johns, pushing him back against the cage.
Johns goes for a takedown attempt but William pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johns takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

William closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johns's guard.

Johns wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
William plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Johns.
William tries to bench press Johns off him but Johns keeps the position.

William throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
William lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

William looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Johns kicks off William and gets to his feet.
William keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
River William seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

William scores with a takedown into Johns's guard.
William trying to control the position from guard on top but Johns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johns looking for a guillotine here but William defends easily.
William trying to control but Johns is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johns working for a triangle but William defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johns has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but William can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Johns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. William gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
William wants to stand but Johns is controlling his posture from full guard.

Johns is looking to cinch up a triangle. William throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Johns's body to avoid the submission. Johns has instead reached around William's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Johns arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Elvis Johns!
River William spoke after the fight, saying 'I learn from this.'.
