PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimi Toa (ranked 1865 p4p, 280 weight class) and Anton Augusto (ranked 4794 p4p, 576 weight class). Toa comes to the cage accompanied by Nil By Mouth, by Blindspott. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toa changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Augusto pushes Toa up against the cage in a clinch.

Augusto is trying to maintain a safe position but Toa gets an underhook and turns Augusto into the cage.

We've been hearing reports that Toa has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Toa gets control of Augusto's arms and successfully pulls guard. Toa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Augusto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Toa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Toa has his foot on Augusto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Augusto works his way back into a safe position though.

Augusto pushes Toa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Toa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Toa has hold of Augusto's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Augusto manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Toa is landing with some decent strikes but Augusto is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Toa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Augusto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Toa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Augusto has managed to get both his arms back between Toa's legs - danger averted.

Oh but Toa is tightening it up a little... Augusto has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Augusto reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Augusto taps out! Nice BJJ there by Toa!
