The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halabzz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Riggs circles away.
Halabzz dives in and grabs Riggs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Riggs pushes down on Halabzz's head and hops out.
Riggs blocks the body kick.

and Riggs counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Benton Riggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jasos Halabzz.
Riggs working over Halabzz with some ground and pound. Halabzz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Halabzz tries to kick Riggs off but Riggs keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Riggs stands up and beckons Halabzz to join him on the feet.
Halabzz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Riggs sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riggs gets a clinch.

Halabzz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Halabzz throws a left and a right that both miss

and Riggs counters with a nice double leg into side control. Halabzz won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Halabzz wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Riggs's closed guard. He's half up but Riggs has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Riggs pivots and extends the arm, Halabzz falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Riggs! Well done that man!
