Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lauro Turturro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brandon Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Turturro with that takedown attempt.
Turturro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sharp but Sharp pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sharp manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Turturro on his heels. He'll look to pass Turturro's guard now, I'm sure.
Turturro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Turturro pulls Sharp in close to his closed guard and prevents Sharp from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sharp postures up in Turturro's guard and throws a big left but Turturro blocks it.
Turturro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turturro lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Turturro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Turturro drops back looking for a leg! Sharp is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sharp manages to kick Turturro off! Turturro jumps back into Sharp's guard.
Sharp is trying to control the position but Turturro postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Turturro passes into half guard.
Sharp missing with punches from the bottom.
Turturro is looking for a kimura but Sharp is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Turturro to get the leverage.
Turturro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sharp sees it coming and defends easily.
Turturro prevents Sharp from improving his position.
Turturro is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turturro looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sharp is trying to stand up here but Turturro is controlling him well.
Turturro is trying for a kimura here. Sharp looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Turturro wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lauro Turturro!
A less than humble Lauro Turturro misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
