PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jordon Shoemaker (ranked 3789 p4p, 487 weight class) and Francesco Verdi (ranked 5070 p4p, 593 weight class). Shoemaker comes into the arena with Nelly - Air Force Ones blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordon Shoemaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Francesco Verdi!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verdi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shoemaker connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Verdi scrambles back to his feet.
Shoemaker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Verdi throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Shoemaker bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Verdi's head backwards.
Verdi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Shoemaker falls off balance throwing a combination
and Verdi counters with a nice kick to the body.
A jab from Shoemaker does it's job there.
Jordon Shoemaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shoemaker shoots in and gets a takedown into Verdi's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shoemaker lands a couple of digs.
Verdi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shoemaker.
Shoemaker trying to control but Verdi is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shoemaker landing with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Verdi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shoemaker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shoemaker passes Verdi's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Verdi looks winded!
Shoemaker scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Shoemaker lands with a punch from half guard.
Shoemaker lands strikes from half guard.

Verdi is rocked!
Verdi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Verdi is still in real trouble! Can Shoemaker finish him?
Shoemaker lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Verdi quite badly. Verdi pulls Shoemaker in close trying to recover. Shoemaker postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Verdi on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Verdi doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jordon Shoemaker!
