Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Fredrick (ranked 2056 p4p, 299 weight class) and Gerrald James (ranked 1922 p4p, 281 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fredrick might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz: Throw It Up. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fredrick shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Fredrick keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fredrick has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
James with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Fredrick dives in and grabs James's left leg, looking for a takedown. James pushes down on Fredrick's head and hops out.
James swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fredrick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Fredrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fredrick drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fredrick's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James pushes Fredrick off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Fredrick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fredrick wants to clinch.
James throws out a counter right but Fredrick avoids it with no problem.

Fredrick backing away here, and James unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

James gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fredrick to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fredrick is looking to advance position but James has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

James stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Ronald Fredrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James lands a jab to the head.
Fredrick fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fredrick moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off.
Fredrick shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Fredrick's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.
Fredrick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fredrick off to one side.

Fredrick tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.

James lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
James cracks Fredrick with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
It looks like Ronald Fredrick has been cut.
Fredrick wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Fredrick or perhaps it was just good defense by James, which made it look bad.
James now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Fredrick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and James counters with a crisp right hand that drops Fredrick! James lets Fredrick back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Fredrick is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fredrick misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
James drops Fredrick with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Fredrick looks back up at him and smiles so James waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Fredrick is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fredrick tries a head kick but it misses.
James has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Fredrick is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Fredrick walks straight into a right hand from James - that's dropped him! James jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Fredrick from any more punishment! Fredrick complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gerrald James!
Gerrald James decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Ronald Fredrick was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll see you soon!!!'.
