The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James dives in and grabs Vega's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vega pushes down on James's head and hops out.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vega should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Vega smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
James shoots in looking for a takedown. Vega tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vega manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Vega throws an overhand right that lands on James's shoulder, as James tries to avoid the shot.
It looked like James wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vega ducks down and throws a hook to the body but James moves away.

Vega fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. James looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Vega scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. James doesn't seem bothered though.

James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vega sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat.
Vega swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vega pinned against the cage. Vega gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
