Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Bob McDonald (ranked 250 p4p, 11 weight class) and Matt Wills (ranked 803 p4p, 37 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by The Fabulous Thunderbirds - Tuff Enuff. Wills has chosen Shattered-by A PERFECT CIRCLE as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Bob McDonald!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Wills!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald rushes Wills and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McDonald lands with a short punch from the clinch.
McDonald prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wills prevents a body shot from McDonald.

McDonald breaks the clinch.
McDonald throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wills sees it coming and avoids it easily.

McDonald gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

McDonald is looking for a triangle but Wills pushes his legs off easily.
Wills slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Wills won't allow McDonald to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wills advances to half guard.
McDonald moves into full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
McDonald wants to sweep here but Wills controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Wills looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDonald looking for a sweep. Not yet McDonald, not yet.
Wills sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McDonald's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wills wants to lay and pray for a moment but McDonald keeps working.
McDonald tries to get to full guard but Wills has control of the leg.
Wills working McDonald over with strikes.
McDonald makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McDonald.
Wills won't allow McDonald to sweep him here.

Wills postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McDonald is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wills, into his guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wills looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Wills is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McDonald pushing down on Wills's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Wills is controlling McDonald's trapped leg to prevent McDonald from advancing to side control.
Wills trying to control from the bottom.
McDonald slips a nice elbow through Wills's hands, connecting with Wills's forehead.
Wills moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wills is on top in guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wills wants to pass the guard but McDonald is keeping the position.
Wills preventing the sweep.
Wills forces his way into half guard.
McDonald manages to get to full guard.
McDonald wants to sweep here but Wills controlling him for the moment.
Wills wants to pass the guard but McDonald is keeping the position.
McDonald is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McDonald looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wills with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McDonald is thwarting Wills's attempts to control the position.
Wills avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McDonald.
McDonald missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Wills trying to control but McDonald postures up.
Wills moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wills wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McDonald working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Wills is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wills trying to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Bob McDonald dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A telegraphed right hand from McDonald misses the target.
McDonald stuffs the takedown.
McDonald misses with a two punch combination.
McDonald connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wills momentarily.


It looks like Matt Wills has been cut.
McDonald lands a right hook to the body.
Wills takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
McDonald throws a body punch but Wills moves out of range.
Wills gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McDonald.

McDonald sends Wills crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! McDonald is motioning to the referee to let Wills up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Wills is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McDonald darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Wills's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles McDonald before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jim Bob McDonald!
Jim Bob McDonald retains his super heavyweight title!
An out of breath Jim Bob McDonald thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Matt Wills stepped up to the mic, saying 'I snorted too much whiskey and drank too much cocaine last night.....Im hitting rehab and I'll be back for your ARM!!'.
