Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenrick Nikil Jr (ranked 1423 p4p, 66 weight class) and Jeff Messer (ranked 1964 p4p, 88 weight class). Nikil Jr comes to the cage accompanied by Dark Horse - Andrew Baena. Messer has chosen Lumberjacks march-by Conway Twittie as his entrance music. Jeff Messer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenrick Nikil Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Messer!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Hemmingworth and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messer throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Nikil Jr tries to counter by clinching up but Messer breaks away and moves out of range.
Messer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Nikil Jr misses with a takedown
and Messer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nikil Jr has a takedown stuffed.
Messer is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Nikil Jr with a body shot.
Nikil Jr fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenrick Nikil Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Messer misses with an uppercut.
Jeff Messer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Messer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nikil Jr changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Messer darts in and clinches Nikil Jr up against the cage.

Nikil Jr jumps guard and drags Messer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Messer trying to control the position from guard on top but Nikil Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Messer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nikil Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nikil Jr is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Messer rolls with it to try and escape but Nikil Jr cranks on the arm and Messer is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kenrick Nikil Jr!
Kenrick Nikil Jr bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
Jeff Messer spoke after the fight, saying 'Back to the under brush for me to train...'.
