The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cummings gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Maxwell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cummings's knee momentarily.
Cummings fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maxwell is out of range.
Cummings misses with the combination.
Maxwell blocks a head kick by Cummings.

Cummings tries to keep at a distance but Maxwell has taken the fight into the clinch.

Maxwell jumps guard and drags Cummings to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Maxwell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Maxwell stands and steps away. Cummings gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cummings throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

It looks like Kenneth Maxwell has been cut.

Maxwell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cummings's guard.
Maxwell stops Cummings from standing up.
Maxwell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Maxwell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cummings's head.
Maxwell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cummings is looking to stand back up but Maxwell counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cummings.

Cummings is looking to get back to is feet but Maxwell passes into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maxwell looking to break Cummings's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Cummings remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Maxwell will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
