Day has chosen Last minute - Great day to choke you out as his entrance music. Gary Day has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ray Mancini's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 3, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Day!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Mancini gets a double leg takedown into Day's guard.
Mancini working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Mancini wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Ray Mancini will probably get the nod.

Mancini bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mancini is looking to take a break and control but Day is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Day has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Mancini is rocked!
The ground and pound from Day seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Oh Mancini is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Day in side control, throwing shots but Mancini defends.
Mancini seems to have got his legs back now.
Day has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mancini is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Day is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mancini tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mancini is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gary Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Day enables Mancini to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Day manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mancini content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Day has locked up a guillotine! Day's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mancini is holding on here and Day must be using up a lot of energy. Mancini has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Day gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
