PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Dann (ranked 3577 p4p, 362 weight class) and Barry Reaves (ranked 5435 p4p, 512 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Dann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barry Reaves!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dann just misses with a punch to the body.
Dann throws a front kick aimed at Reaves's knee but Reaves avoids it well.
Barry Reaves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dann explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Dann throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Reaves drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Reaves won't allow Dann to sweep him here.
Reaves tries to free his leg and advance position but Dann is retaining full guard.
Dann controlling Reaves's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reaves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dann dives on top into guard.


Reaves has his foot on Dann's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dann works his way back into a safe position though.
Dann sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Reaves's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dann in particular looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Reaves looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Reaves tries to roll over but Dann keeps him under control.
Ground and pound from Dann.
Reaves is looking for a sweep. Dann is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dann trying to mount his opponent but Reaves defends it.
Dann seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Dann seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Reaves wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Reaves actively working from the bottom here.
Dann is nestled in close to Reaves, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dann looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Reaves looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dann is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dann working over Reaves with some ground and pound. Reaves looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Reaves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dann performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Dann drops an elbow to the side of Reaves's head.
Reaves has hold of Dann's hands but Dann slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Dann not doing much here.

Reaves looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Nice strikes from Dann there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dann wants to control but Reaves is keeping him busy.

Dann gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Reaves gets caught napping as Dann dives in and scores a takedown. Reaves manages to retain guard.

Reaves wriggles free and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dann closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dann lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dann pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reaves is keeping the position for now.
Dann controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dann passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Dann dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Reaves stuffs the takedown.
Dann misses with a hook. Reaves ducked under it nicely.
Reaves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dann as he jumps to the side.
It appears Dann was looking to counter with a kick there.
The fighters circle, before Dann throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Reaves's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Dann lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Brian Dann!
