Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benson Whyte (ranked 86 p4p, 16 weight class) and Sesto D Ippolito (ranked 695 p4p, 96 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Whyte might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bob Marley - Jammin. D Ippolito has chosen Squeeze- Cool for Cats as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
D Ippolito lands a glancing blow to the side of Whyte's head.

Whyte breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
D Ippolito bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
D Ippolito fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Whyte manages to avoid it.
Whyte throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
An inside leg kick from Whyte misses.
D Ippolito tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Whyte takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that D Ippolito has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

D Ippolito shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whyte as he avoids it easily.

Whyte fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops D Ippolito to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! D Ippolito looks to clinch but Whyte throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! D Ippolito taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

In his post fight interview, Benson Whyte started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
