The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Weiss counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Weiss wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cardoso has him pressed against the cage.

Weiss gets to his feet - Cardoso follows without any prompting.
Cardoso shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Weiss but Weiss pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A little feinted left hand from Weiss on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Cardoso has taken the fight to the clinch.
Weiss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Weiss tries to throw a body punch but Cardoso avoids it by throwing Weiss back against the cage.

Weiss has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cardoso uses from the top position.

Cardoso decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Weiss, up you get!
A head kick from Cardoso lands but Weiss takes it in his stride.

Cardoso shoots in looking for a takedown but Weiss manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cardoso's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A quick step to the side and Weiss tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Weiss for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Cardoso tries to pull guard but Weiss won't allow it.
Weiss drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cardoso pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Weiss shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Weiss was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close round but I would say that Myron Weiss will probably get the nod.

Cardoso wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Cardoso darts in looking for a takedown but Weiss gets double underhooks and turns Cardoso into the cage.

Cardoso dives in and grabs Weiss's left leg, looking for a takedown. Weiss pushes down on Cardoso's head and hops out.

Weiss quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Cardoso has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Weiss celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
