Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Saki Naburaba (ranked 5828 p4p, 516 weight class) and Winchester Blackard (ranked 5695 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Winchester Blackard!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Naburaba - just one landing.
Blackard missing with a left hand there. Naburaba was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
It looked like Naburaba was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Naburaba throws the left hand but Blackard avoids the punch easily.
Blackard moves forwards but Naburaba connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Blackard staying out of range there.
Blackard misses the jab.
Naburaba swings away with a body shot that misses

and Blackard counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Blackard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head punch on the inside from Naburaba fails to land.

Blackard is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Naburaba swings wildly with an uppercut but Blackard uses good head movement to avoid it.
Naburaba is trying to push Blackard away but Blackard has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Blackard gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Blackard is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Blackard passes to side control.

Blackard goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Naburaba has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Blackard but great work by Naburaba.
Blackard tries to improve position but can't.

Blackard manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Naburaba wants to control but Blackard is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Blackard is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Naburaba has managed to free his arm - good work.

Blackard wants to work for an arm triangle but Naburaba is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Naburaba is looking for a sweep. Blackard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Blackard is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Blackard is trying to work for a kimura but Naburaba is defending well.
Blackard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Naburaba looks like he's trying to stand up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blackard is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Naburaba!

Blackard pushes Naburaba up against the cage in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Naburaba misses with a body punch.

Naburaba goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Naburaba misses with some punches.
Blackard is struggling to control the position.

Blackard works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Blackard is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Blackard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Naburaba is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Blackard goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Naburaba rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Blackard's guard! Nice work there by Naburaba!

Naburaba got a little sloppy there for a moment and Blackard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Naburaba has managed to get both his arms back between Blackard's legs - danger averted.
Naburaba has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Blackard has control of Naburaba's left arm, preventing Naburaba from doing any damage.
Blackard wants to sweep here but Naburaba controlling him for the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Naburaba wants to control from the top but Blackard keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Blackard takes one to the side of the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nice defenses there by Blackard.
Blackard throws out a counter right but Naburaba avoids it with no problem.
Naburaba bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Blackard's head backwards.
Blackard looks to land a left hand but Naburaba moved out of range nicely.

Naburaba gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blackard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Winchester Blackard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Blackard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Naburaba looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Blackard takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Naburaba is looking to control Blackard's arms but Blackard gets an underhook and turns him. Now Naburaba has his back to the cage.
Blackard with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Blackard gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Naburaba pushes Blackard off but Blackard dives into side control.
Naburaba tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blackard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Blackard works to advance to full mount. Naburaba defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Blackard forces the positional change into back control.

Blackard working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Naburaba is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Blackard has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Naburaba taps out!
