Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Blade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
30 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerry Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blade works over Kelly's head and body with a nice combination.
We've been told by Blade's head coaches at The Cave Fighting Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Blade leaves Kelly with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kelly fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kelly moves into the clinch.
Blade is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Blade misses with some punches.
Blade misses with the head strike.
Kelly is working for takedown but Blade is calmly controlling the position for now.
Jake Blade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerry Kelly.

Kelly closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Blade is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kelly has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Kelly shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Blade is trying to defend but Kelly finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kelly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Blade doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kelly.

Kelly works to advance to full mount. Blade defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Gerry Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kelly looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kelly has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Blade regains guard immediately.
Kelly stays in close to Blade's body and controls the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
