Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lazlo Ofique (ranked 4053 p4p, 350 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 1019 p4p, 106 weight class). Carlos Ruas acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lazlo Ofique!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ofique waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ruas.
Ruas takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ofique misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ruas.

Ruas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ofique won't allow Ruas to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ofique has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ofique knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruas on the ground.

Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ofique swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ruas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ofique has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A looping hook to the body misses from Ofique. Ruas does a little dance to reset his feet.

A quick step to the side and Ofique tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ofique tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ofique somewhat.

Ruas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ofique.

Ofique's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ofique is looking to control Ruas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ofique avoid being mounted?

Ruas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ofique to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ofique shrugs it off.
Ofique bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

I think Ruas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
