Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julian Whitfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Bricker!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bricker has Whitfield up against the cage in a clinch.
Whitfield tries to pull guard but Bricker forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Bricker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Whitfield enables Bricker to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Whitfield manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Whitfield has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bricker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Whitfield really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bricker postures up in Whitfield's guard and throws a big left but Whitfield blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Julian Whitfield will probably get the nod.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whitfield accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Whitfield shoots in looking for a takedown. Bricker tries to sprawl out of it but Whitfield keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bricker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bricker clinches up with Whitfield and pushes him back against the cage.

Whitfield pulls guard effortlessly.
Whitfield lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bricker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Whitfield controls the pace.
