Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Matthews (ranked 3109 p4p, 262 weight class) and Black Rob (ranked 3479 p4p, 285 weight class). Black Rob has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Matthews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Black Rob!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rob has a takedown stuffed.
Rob misses with a takedown attempt - Matthews sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rob uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Matthews.
Matthews scores with a jab to the body.
Matthews throws a body shot but no joy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rob.
Jackson Matthews has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Rob.

Rob is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Matthews's half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rob swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rob misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rob closes the distance and clinches up with Matthews, looking for a takedown. Rob pushes Matthews against the cage but Matthews circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
As Rob tries to get set, Matthews tries to push him back and clinch up but Rob manages to avoid the attempt.
Matthews jabs Rob to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Matthews throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Black Rob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rob goes for a double leg but Matthews avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matthews continues to drive forward.
Rob rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matthews moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like Matthews was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rob.

Rob throws a front kick aimed at Matthews's knee but Matthews avoids it well.
A quick step to the side and Matthews tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rob looks to land a left hand but Matthews moved out of range nicely.
Rob misses with a takedown attempt
and Matthews makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rob throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matthews's waist but Matthews gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rob off to one side.

and Matthews counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rob scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Rob is trying to control the action in half guard but Matthews is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Matthews on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Matthews tries to get out of the position.

Rob seems to be working for a kimura but Matthews defends the submission attempt.
Rob content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rob wants to work for an arm triangle but Matthews is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Matthews is trying to control but can't.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rob seems to be looking for submissions.
Matthews tries to roll over but Rob keeps him under control.

Rob passes to side control.
Rob wants to lay and pray for a moment but Matthews keeps working.

Rob thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Black Rob dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rob shoots in looking for a takedown. Matthews tries to sprawl out of it but Rob keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Matthews manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice takedown defense from Matthews. No joy for Rob on that attempt.

Matthews swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Rob has hold of Matthews's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Matthews seems comfortable defending it but Rob has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Matthews is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Matthews is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Rob couldn't care less - he's delighted!
