Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony O Rangers (ranked 904 p4p, 95 weight class) and DJ Augie (ranked 1843 p4p, 186 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think O Rangers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hold on to you. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Tony O Rangers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, DJ Augie!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Augie looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Augie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Augie missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
O Rangers is pulling down on Augie's head to control his posture.
Augie wants to control from the top but O Rangers keeps moving.
Augie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
O Rangers has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Augie connects with a couple of short punches.
Augie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as O Rangers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Augie looking to sit in guard and control but O Rangers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

O Rangers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Augie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

O Rangers has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Augie is squirming around, avoiding O Rangers's attempts to control the action.

O Rangers wants to take Augie's back but he can't do it this time.
Augie is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
O Rangers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Augie is looking to escape.
Augie is desperately trying to improve his position but O Rangers has a good base and remains in mount.
Augie is squirming around, avoiding O Rangers's attempts to control the action.
O Rangers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Augie is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Augie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Augie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by O Rangers.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Augie regains half guard.
O Rangers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
O Rangers is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Augie!
O Rangers wants to control the pace but Augie is squirming around nicely.
Augie is working to get back to half guard.
Augie has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
O Rangers thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Augie is squirming around, avoiding O Rangers's attempts to control the action.

and O Rangers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Augie takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
O Rangers swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Augie scores with a sloppy right hand. O Rangers should have avoided that one.
Augie lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
O Rangers jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Augie swats away the attempt to clinch by O Rangers.
O Rangers slips a jab from Augie.
Augie moves away from the strike by O Rangers.
Augie tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
O Rangers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Augie can do to turn this around?
O Rangers misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Augie.

The crowd cheers as O Rangers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Augie doesn't seem phased though.
DJ Augie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Augie misses with a hook. O Rangers ducked under it nicely.
O Rangers is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
O Rangers scores with a decent looking hook.
Augie misses with a right hand
and O Rangers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like DJ Augie has been cut.
Augie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Augie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from O Rangers.
O Rangers misses with a straight right.
O Rangers throws a body shot but no joy.
Tony O Rangers is winning the standup battle so far.
O Rangers misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Augie.
Augie now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Augie swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by O Rangers.
O Rangers connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Augie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Augie lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
O Rangers misses with a hook. Augie ducked under it nicely.
Augie throws a big shot that misses.

O Rangers throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Augie on the side of the head.
O Rangers scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Augie doesn't seem bothered though.

Augie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but O Rangers manages to avoid it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Augie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but O Rangers defends it well.

O Rangers swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Augie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling O Rangers to score with a decent uppercut.

and Augie counters with a nice uppercut.

It looked like O Rangers wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Augie, as that shot connected.

O Rangers drops back looking for a leg! Augie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Augie manages to kick O Rangers off! O Rangers jumps back into Augie's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
O Rangers moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Augie blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Augie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

O Rangers is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Augie can't fight it off and eventually O Rangers manages to take the fight to the floor. Augie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

O Rangers rushes Augie and presses him up against the cage.
O Rangers blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Augie tries for a takedown but O Rangers manages to get underhooks.
O Rangers wants to take the fight to the mat but Augie manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Well O Rangers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
