PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bradford Forbes (ranked 1748 p4p, 266 weight class) and Viktor Grishin (ranked 3953 p4p, 500 weight class). Grishin has chosen Danger as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Viktor Grishin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bradford Forbes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Viktor Grishin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grishin on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Grishin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Forbes looks to throw the jab but Grishin is out of range.
Grishin darts in looking for a takedown but Forbes gets double underhooks and turns Grishin into the cage.
Forbes misses with a body shot
and Grishin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grishin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Grishin! But no joy.
Grishin blocks a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Forbes misses with a body punch
and Grishin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Grishin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Forbes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Forbes keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Forbes connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Forbes misses with a takedown
and Grishin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Forbes lunges at Grishin with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Grishin's hand.
Forbes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Forbes swinging wildly here.
Forbes throws an off balance right hand
and Grishin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Forbes lands a nice hook to Grishin's body. Grishin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Grishin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Forbes.
Grishin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Grishin fails to land the takedown.
Grishin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Forbes throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Grishin counter with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Forbes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Grishin counter with a right hand.
Forbes connects with a jab.
Forbes misses with the combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Forbes throws a body shot but no joy.
Forbes misses with a body shot.
Forbes throws a jab but it's blocked by Grishin.
Grishin is looking for the big counter here.
Grishin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Forbes connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Grishin scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd cheers as Forbes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Grishin doesn't seem phased though.

Forbes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Forbes prevents Grishin from improving his position.

Forbes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Forbes is looking for a kimura but Grishin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Forbes to get the leverage.

Forbes is trying to control the action in half guard but Grishin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Grishin controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Grishin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Forbes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Forbes is trying to work for a kimura but Grishin is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradford Forbes dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Forbes lands the left hand.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Forbes, as that shot connected.
Forbes lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Grishin is rocked!
Grishin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Forbes.
Grishin is still on wobbly legs! Can Forbes finish him?
Grishin goes for a double leg but Forbes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Forbes continues to drive forward.
Forbes throws a monster overhand right that drops Grishin! Forbes follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bradford Forbes!
After winning the bout, Bradford Forbes thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
