The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stahl lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Stahl drives through and clinches with Basilashvili against the cage.
We've been informed that Stahl has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Stahl creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Stahl goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Stahl is working for takedown but Basilashvili is calmly controlling the position for now.
Basilashvili avoids a wild elbow strike from Stahl.
Stahl pulls Basilashvili into guard.
Basilashvili wants to control from the top but Stahl keeps moving.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stahl throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Basilashvili escapes and throws Stahl's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Stahl sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Stahl wants to improve his position but Basilashvili is controlling well.
Stahl is pressing down on Basilashvili's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Stahl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Basilashvili can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stahl working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Basilashvili doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Basilashvili manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Basilashvili is posturing up here but Stahl has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Basilashvili tries to roll out but it's too tight and Basilashvili has to tap! Slick submission there by Stahl!

In his post fight interview, Hussein Stahl started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
