PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evander Kuchinello (ranked 23820 p4p, 602 weight class) and Mohammed Ali (ranked 5185 p4p, 480 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali throws a series of strikes that have Kuchinello backpedaling.

It looks like Evander Kuchinello has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kuchinello looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ali looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kuchinello is fending him off so far but Ali persists. Nope, Kuchinello circles away and we're back to standing.
Kuchinello changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kuchinello walks into a stiff left hand from Ali.
Kuchinello jabs Ali to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Ali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Ali counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Kuchinello walks into a left hand.
Kuchinello blocks a jab.
Ali swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ali.
Ali fails to land the takedown.
Kuchinello is looking to counter punch.
Kuchinello avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kuchinello tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kuchinello throws a head kick but Ali moves out of range.
Ali changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ali cracks Kuchinello with an open hand slap.
Ali throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ali misses the jab.
Ali bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kuchinello's head.
Kuchinello pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kuchinello gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ali throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ali fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kuchinello is out of range.

Ali lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Evander Kuchinello's cut is getting worse.
Kuchinello misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ali throws a front kick aimed at Kuchinello's knee but Kuchinello avoids it well.
Ali misses with a hook.
Kuchinello pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ali throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ali has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Nice uppercut lands for Ali. That snapped Kuchinello's head back.

Ali fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kuchinello checks it well.

Ali takes one to the chin there.

Ali drops Kuchinello with a nice combination! Ali dives into Kuchinello's guard, looking to finish!

Ali wants to pass the guard but Kuchinello is keeping the position.
Kuchinello seems to have got his legs back now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ali accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kuchinello has momentary wrist control but Ali slips an elbow through the middle.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ali fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Ali throws a series of punches but Kuchinello avoids them all with ease.
Ali avoids the head kick by Kuchinello.
Mohammed Ali seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ali with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kuchinello to score with a decent uppercut.

and Ali counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Kuchinello down! Ali is looking to finish but Kuchinello is intelligently defending himself.

Ali is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kuchinello is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kuchinello has escaped and now he's on top!

Ali has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Ali looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ali looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuchinello is one step ahead there.
Kuchinello won't allow Ali to get back to his feet.

Ali is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kuchinello throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ali's body to avoid the submission. Ali has instead reached around Kuchinello's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ali arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
